Tips to Build Muscle Faster

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Speeding up the results of your body building program can be achieved in numerous ways . These involve the use of specific exercises and the right type of dieting. The following tips on muscular tissue building have been tested and proven to work;

Weight lifting is the ultimate method for getting bigger muscles . In order to make it more effective, you have to pick the heaviest weights possible for your work outs. Most body building beginners find it difficult to estimate the maximum load they can lift, so the experts recommend the use of a simple rule: you should be able to lift easily yet with effort the suitable weight, and then able to execute the exercise with those weights around ten times. If you feel that you can do more, then you have to pick heavier loads and vice versa.

When you exercise, you have to work out more than one muscle group in order to build mass more quickly. This is possible through the so called compound movements that allow you to train more than one joint area. There are a number of such multitasking exercises that you can use to work out your arm, shoulder, and chest muscles. You might have to do some more research in order to find the more sophisticated ones, but it is a good idea to start with the basic ones like the bench press.

It is essential for you not to exercise heavily. By having enough rest between the workouts, you will give enough time for the muscle tissue to recover and to grow. In fact, most of the fitness gurus recommend work outs only three times a week for effective results.

Your diet has to be balanced and rich in carbohydrates and protein. You should eat standard portions of poultry, fish, eggs and dairy, accompanied by fresh vegetables. Exclude junk food and sweets from your diet and have frequent meals to gain muscle fast.

Five Things To Look For In A Vertical Jump Program

Friday, May 28th, 2010

If you’re looking for a way to improve your basketball skills and want to jump higher or even dunk, vertical jump programs can help you out. Which of the programs in reality deliver on what they promise though? There are quite a few different products out there, and some of them make claims that they can’t back up. If adding over 10 inches to your vertical jump was as simple as some of the products lead you to believe, wouldn’t everyone be able to dunk by now? So how can you find a truly good vertical program?

Here are the 5 things to look for in a vertical jump program.

1. Easy to follow instructions
It’s imperative that you can grasp what the author of the program is discussing. It shouldn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a professional, the program ought to be easy for anyone to start doing without a glossary of difficult words.

2. Plyometrics and weighlifting workout routines
Programs that include plyo and weight workouts are more beneficial. If the product you’re looking at doesn’t have these things, there is no way it can help you get the best results. Plyometrics is all about explosive movements, which is something you will need when you try and dunk.

3. Customizable workouts
All athletes are at different stages, and what might work for one person might not work for somebody else. That is the reason it is extremely important that a vertical leap program has enough workouts for beginners, intermediate and advanced ballers. That way, if you are advanced in plyometrics workouts, but you’ve never lifted weights before, you can create a special workout made up of the exact exercises that you need.

4. Improves overall strength and speed
The program should not only help you improve your vertical jump, it should enable you to become stronger and faster as well. So, if you’re only able to jump an inch or two higher, the program you have is most likely not improving your strength or quickness.

5. Be Reasonably priced
You shouldn’t have to spend an arm and a leg just to jump high! (After all, how high can you jump with just one leg (ha ha)? There are some workouts out there that are worth the money, but none of them should cost five times what the others charge.

If you can find all five of these items in the program you are considering, it is probably a good one, and one that should be worth it.

To get the most out of your vertical jumping exercises, you must consider a vertical jump training program. Check out these Vertical Jump Program Reviews to check which are rated the best and to get more information on How To Improve Your Vertical.

How to Lower Blood Pressure

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

This is why it is often referred to as the ‘Silent Killer.’ It is important that lower blood pressure becomes a focus for these people.

Despite declining blood pressure statistics in the 1970’s and 80’sthe trend seems to be increasing again. Women are showing an increase in high blood pressure compared to men.

Interestingly this trend seems to be following the high increase in obesity throughout the population.

Interestingly, it also coincides with the high consumption of sugar, particularly high fructose corn syrup consume triple times the amount of sugar that our bodies need for optimum health.

These trends are having a devistating effect of the population.

Drugs are by far the recommended choice to reduce blood pressure and they do work.   However, The cost can be considerable! The side effects of using drugs to make blood pressure lower are extensive and in some cases dangerous. Studies have shown that calcium blockers can actually cause heart attacks!

A ‘scary’ thing about drugs, besides their cost and side effects, is that one drug in the majority of cases, leads to an average of 4 or more drugs within 5 years. and that’s information from the pharmacists who dispense the drugs.

The healthy alternative to reduce blood pressure requires lifestyle changes such as:

>Reduction of sedentary activity

>Eliminate poor diets of fast processed foods

> Maintaining a reasonable weight.

>Get rid of excess stress (too much to do, in too little time)

A simple way to start to reduce blood pressure is for you and your family  to make the decision together to eliminate soda pop and fried foods.

If your inactive-Get Active. If your overweight- Lose It! If your diet is poor- improve it! If your stressed out learn to relax! Take the time to smell the roses.

Easy to say but obviously not easy to do. Give yourself a break and realize you do have the power to change your health.  Just take it one step at a time.

More and more people are turning to natural remedies particularly herbs, vitamins and antioxidants. Besides the numerous health benefits, using these natural supplements can take the pressure off making changes in your lifestyle which as we all know you can’t do ‘overnight’.

Herbs such as garlic, hawthorn and bilberry are all proven to clear arteries and reduce blood pressure.

Hard-Boiled Eggs…the Perfect Fat Loss Snack

Monday, May 24th, 2010

As a health nut and busy working mother of 3 , I am always looking for a good, high-protein snack , I have found that eggs are something that appeals to nearly everyone and I tend to enjoy often! With so many recipes and ways to cook them , they rarely fall on that list of ‘things I’ll never eat again’.  Eggs are easy to eat, not too messy and great for on the go eating (I know most of us are looking for healthy on the go snacks!).

In fact, eggs are a great source of protein that contains ALL of the essential amino acids that our body needs to build and repair muscle! To get all the benefit of an egg, you must eat the entire egg . Organic , cage-free eggs are always a better choice if they are availableMany of my clients use eggs as a weight loss snack,so let me share with you the simple 3-step method for cooking the perfect hard-boiled egg that I share with my clients.

3 EASY STEPS TO A PERFECT HARDBOILED EGG!

Below you will find a recipe to make the perfect HARD-BOILED EGGS. You may not need this recipe if your boiled eggs turn out perfect every time and you’ve never have a problem with the membrane sticking to the white of the egg. However,  if you are like me, you’ve tried  many times and only occasionally got it right… the recipe below will ensure you have EASY TO PEEL eggs every time!!

RECIPE FOR PERFECT HARDBOILED EGGS

  1. Start by placing the eggs in a pot of COLD water Be sure there is at least an inch of water above the top of each egg. The idea is to stabilize the temperature between the water and eggs.
  2. Bring the pot of water and eggs to a boil by placing them on high heat . After the water is boiling steadily, immediately take the pot off of the heat and cover with a tight-fitting lid . The eggs will continue to cook from the heat of the water.
  3. Let the eggs sit in the pan in the hot water for 12 minutes for medium eggs, 15 minutes for large eggs and 18 minutes for extra large eggs. USE A TIMER! After your timer goes off, drain water and replace with ice cold water. Let the temperature between water and eggs stalilize again and you’ll have the perfect BOILED EGGS! ENJOY and give yourself a pat on the back for choosing a healthy and natural snack!

As a final note, I have been noticing, on many weight loss blogs, that there are concerns about regular consumption of eggs. Studies have shown that daily consumption of eggs will not cause an elevation of cholesterol or heart disease risk. Most cholesterol problems can be linked to excess carbohydrate intake rather than excess cholesterol consumption. So, go ahead, enjoy your eggs!
